If you found yourself downtown this weekend and wondered why there were so many spies, heroes, ninjas, pirates, sailor scouts, and maids converging on the waterfront, it’s because AniRevo Summer took over the west building of the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Despite the heat, fans of anime, manga, gaming and other pop culture donned their best outfits to mingle, get their photos taken, build some Gunpla, or just hang out. I spent much of Saturday wandering the halls trying to stay cool or outside hovering in the shade where photographers were lined up and snapping as many pictures as they could before the heat kicked in.

What photographers and attendees had to contend with in the shade outside the convention centre Saturday afternoon.

What’s big in cosplay this year? Characters from the popular video game Genshin Impact, the secret agent series Spy × Family and the fantastical Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. See the full album of the amazing cosplay on Gallery.

Today is the last day of AniRevo Summer, so head on down to the west building of the Vancouver Convention Centre to check it out. Admission and face masks are required for entry.
