There’s still time this month to fit into your favourite cosplay and enjoy a lively Japanese-style festival with fun and games at the Summer Festival. This free single-day event runs from 1:00 pm PDT until late on Saturday, August 27th, 2022 at the Convocation Mall at Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby Mountain campus.

This year marks the Summer Festival’s 10th anniversary. Last year, the fair went virtual, but is back for an in person event.

Based on the “matsuri” festival in Japan, the Summer Festival is anime-focused and guests are encouraged to wear cosplay. Dozens of booths will have artwork, handicrafts and other merchandise from local artisans and vendors. Plenty of games and performances will last late into the night — everything from live music to watermelon smashing. And of course, there’s always a selection of tasty treats to consume!

Admission to the Summer Festival is free. While there is onsite pay parking, taking transit to reach the SFU campus is advised.
