October is Latin American Heritage Month here in Vancouver and as the month closes out, check out the Latin Market on Granville Island this weekend for music, merchants, and of course, food!

This year, the market will have activities relating to Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), which falls on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022. A large ofrenda is setup inside the Ocean Artworks Pavilion to commemorate family members who have passed away with offerings of food and drink. Grab some tacos or sample Venezuelan street food and sway to the beat of live music or bring the kids for some sugar skull painting. There’s also a beer garden where you can relax with a cold cerveza or mulled wine. Feeling energetic? Take part in some Zumba or learn capoeira.

Free to attend, the family-friendly market runs from 1:00 pm until midnight on Saturday, October 29th and then again from 1:00 pm until 11:00 pm on Sunday, October 30th, 2022. As rain is expected for Sunday, much of the event space is covered, but come prepared for soggy streets.

Latin American Heritage Month celebrates the contributions Latin Americans have made in Canada with in-person and virtual workshops, performances, video events and activities. A full list of events is available on the Latincouver website. The month-long commemoration concludes on November 2nd, 2022
