The wildly popular Japan Market will setup shop next month with the first of many themed events for 2023. Kawaii Japan Market celebrates all things cute (kawaii) and pop culture from Japan on Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th, 2023 at UBC Robson Square in downtown Vancouver.

Vendors and artisans will have tables piled high with Japanese pop culture-inspired goods, gifts, snacks, and treats for fans of Sanrio, anime, manga, J-Pop and other trends from the island nation. Eco-conscious shoppers will find a selection of items to keep fruits and vegetables crisp and re-usable bags with beautiful prints (I love the Shiba Inu bags). Hungry patrons will drool over baked goods like melon pan, sweet chocolate, succulent katsu sandwiches, and saucy marinades and oils. Anime fans will adore the colourful prints of their favourite characters or stickers to adorn that newly purchased travel mug. Maybe purchase a kimono to take home to relax in after a busy day out at the market.

Doors to Kawaii Japan Market open from 10:00 am thru 5:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. A nominal admission of $5.00 per person is required to enter and peruse the stalls. Save the hassle of finding parking by riding transit — Robson Square is less than a 10 minute walk from Granville Station on the Expo Line or Vancouver City Centre on the Canada Line.

Japan Market hosts multiple events a year: twice in the summer outside the Vancouver Art Gallery and then again before Christmas. If you can’t make this one, fear not, stop by again later this year!
