English dub of Hell’s Paradise to premiere on Crunchyroll this weekend

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll announced the English dub of Hell’s Paradise will premiere on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at 1:30 pm PDT (4:30 pm EDT) and weekly thereafter.

Veteran ADR director Mike McFarland, with ADR engineer Victor Acosta and ADR script writer Katelyn Barr, are coordinating the dub with the following voice actors:

  • Alejandro Saab as Gabimaru
  • Marisa Duran as Yamada Asaemon Sagiri
  • Nazeeh Tarsha as Aza Chobe
  • Matt Shipman as Yamada Asaemon Toma
  • Jill Harris as Yuzuriha
  • Reagan Murdock as Yamada Asaemon Shion
  • Ben Balmaceda as Yamada Asaemon Tenza
  • Cassie Ewulu as Nurugai
  • Jordan Dash Cruz as Yamada Asaemon Senta

Crunchyroll will also release Hell’s Paradise dubbed in German, French, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Castilian Spanish, and Italian, at a later date.

Hell’s Paradise is animated by MAPPA, with Kaori Makita directing, composition by Akira Kindaichi, character designs by Kouji Hisaki and music Yoshiaki Dewa, began airing on April 1st, 2023. New episodes are released weekly, scheduled every Saturday at 8:30 am PDT (11:30 am EDT).

The anime is based on the manga Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku by Yuji Kaku which is published in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in Japan and by Viz Media in English for North America. Gabimaru is a notorious assassin from his village, but upon being captured, he is sentenced to death. However, the shogun looking for eternal life offers Gabimaru a pardon if he can acquire an elixir hidden on an island. The downside? Gabimaru is not the only seeking to recover the elixir and must compete with other convicts to retrieve it…
