Netflix brings Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune to Canada this month

Netflix has secured the rights to the anime adaptation of the Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune novels, arriving on the streaming service in Canada starting May 18th, 2023.

Shoren, head of the Pan-Star System Trade Federation, exerts an iron-fist over the Earth. Despite this controlling grip over society, a young Akira Ihotsu defies the status quo and finds himself being courted by the “Yakitori”, an infantry unit that boasts an astounding rate of death for its members — 70%! Can this ragtag group change their future and win the fight?

Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune

According to Netflix, the anime is directed by Hideki Anbo, with Mitsuyasu Sakai as screenwriter, character designs by Atsushi Yamagata, music composition by Ken Ishii, and animation production by ARECT under direction of Netflix.

Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune will broadcast in Japanese with the following voice talent:

Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune, written by Carlo Zen and illustrated by so-bin, comprises of two volumes, and is published by Hayakawa Bunko JA in Japan, but is not yet available translated outside of the island nation.
