The thrilling science-fiction anime PSYCHO-PASS is coming to the big screen globally this summer, thanks to Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. PSYCHO-PASS: Providence will appear in both Japanese with English subtitles as well as dubbed in English in theatres across North America on July 14th, 2023, preceded by a special sneak preview on July 11th and 13th, 2023.
Both Cineplex and Landmark Cinemas will screen the film across Canada.
An international release will bring PSYCHO-PASS: Providence to Australia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Spain, Mexico, Chile, Peru, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand in the months after the North American premiere.
Crunchyroll included a brief synopsis of the film in their press release.
January 2118. Chief Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department, Akane Tsunemori, receives a report of an incident on a foreign vessel – the body of Professor Milicia Stronskaya has been discovered. Behind the incident is a group known as the Peacebreakers, a foreign paramilitary organization and a new outside threat who are targeting the professor’s research papers known as the “Stronskaya Document”.
Reunited with Shinya Kogami, a former fugitive from the Criminal Investigation Department, Akane grapples with a case that quickly escalates beyond their expectations. The Stronskaya Papers could reveal a truth that would shake Japan’s government, and even the Sibyl System, to the core.
It is in this untold story that the missing link is revealed.
The film is directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani, with Makoto Fukami, Tow Ubukata, and Gen Urobuchi serving as writers, musical composition by Yugo Kanno and animation production by Production I.G.

PSYCHO-PASS: Providence opened in Japanese theatres on May 12th, 2023.
The PSYCHO-PASS anime first broadcast in 2012, followed by sequels in 2014 and 2019, which are available on Crunchyroll’s streaming service. As well, there are four films in the franchise: PSYCHO-PASS: The Movie, PSYCHO-PASS: Sinners of the System, PSYCHO-PASS 3: First Inspector, and PSYCHO-PASS: Providence.
