Crunchyroll goes global with Gachiakuta

As one of the hottest new anime series this year, Crunchyroll has held events globally to build hype for Gachiakuta with its premiere earlier this week.

This campaign, a partnership between Crunchyroll and the Gachiakuta Anime Production Committee, saw celebrations at Anime Expo in Los Angeles; Japan Expo in Paris, France; São Paulo, Brazil; Berlin, Germany; Mumbai, India; Rome, Italy; Mexico City, Mexico; and others.

Through World Connecting Graffiti, a series of murals across Tokyo, Los Angeles, Milan, Taipei, and Hong Kong, when all combined, spell out “Watch out world!” to rally fans towards Gachiakuta.

Transit takeovers saw stations on Berlin’s U-Bahn, San Francisco MUNI buses and San Diego MTS trolleys wrapped in the series’ visual style for its premiere.

Episode one of Gachiakuta is now streaming on Crunchyroll everywhere except Japan, China, Russia, Belarus, and South Korea. Episode two drops on Sunday, July 13th at 8:00 am PDT (11:00 am EDT), followed by new episodes every Saturday.

Crunchyroll provided a synopsis of Gachiakuta in a press release:

Gachiakuta, written and illustrated by Kei Urana with graffiti by Hideyoshi Andou, debuted February 16th, 2022 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, with Kodansha USA handling the English-language release in both print and digital formats for readers across North America.
