On July 17th, 2025, the final installment of Kaiju No. 8 was published via Shonen Jump+, officially ending the series. A special illustration by series creator Naoya Matsumoto was shared via Twitter/X to mark the occasion.

The illustration highlighted the series’ major characters, including kaijus no. 9 and no. 10.
Kaiju No. 8 is described as:
Kafka Hibino dreams of joining his childhood friend Mina Ashiro in defending their country from giant beasts called kaiju. Instead, Kafka cleans up the remains of defeated kaiju. After a new hire to the clean-up crew inspires Kafka to apply for the defense forces again, he unwillingly swallows a small kaiju which transforms him into a humanoid monster…
Kaiju No. 8 began serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ on July 3rd, 2020 and was compiled into 15 individual volumes. In North America, VIZ Media offers the English-translated manga in digital and print formats.
Production I.G adapted the series into an anime, with season one premiering on April 13th, 2024, and running for 12 episodes. A second season was released on July 19th, 2025 and currently streams globally outside of Asia on Crunchyroll.
