JUMP MV / "Haikyu!!" x "Hikariare" | BURNOUT SYNDROMES

New music video commemorates Haikyu!! Day

In honor of Haikyu!! Day on August 19th, Jump Channel has dropped a fresh JUMP MV powered by the high-energy anthem “Hikariare” from BURNOUT SYNDROMES — just in time to spike fans’ excitement.

The music video blends Haruichi Furudate’s manga art with videography from the Sendai City Gymnasium. The facility is undergoing renovations after 40 years serving the community’s sporting and recreation needs.

Formed in 2005, BURNOUT SYNDROMES is a three-piece rock band from Osaka comprised of guitarist and vocalist Kazuumi Kumagai, bassist Taiyu Ishikawa, and drummer Takuya Hirose. Three of their songs have appeared as opening themes for Haikyu!!: “Fly High!!” in season two, “Hikariare” in season three, and “Phoenix” in season four. BURNOUT SYNDROMES actively tour the word, successfully completing their first solo series across the United States in 2024.

The Jump Channel included a synopsis on Haikyu!!:

Haikyu!! is a Japanese manga series written by Haruichi Furudate about high school volleyball. Set in Miyagi Prefecture, this is a landmark coming-of-age volleyball manga that follows the protagonist, Hinata Shoyo, a member of the Karasuno High School volleyball team, as he strives to become the “Little Giant”—the team’s former ace, alongside his teammates, including the genius setter Kageyama Tobio, known as the “King of the Court.”

The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from February 20th, 2012 until July 20th, 2020 while the anime aired from April 6th, 2014 until December 19th, 2020. The first of two finale films, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, premiered on February 16th, 2024. In North America, VIZ Media publishes the English-translated manga in digital and print formats; Crunchyroll holds the license to stream the anime.
