Despite sales dropping off in the second weekend end following a stellar release, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has managed to break a few records since its Japanese premiere this July.
In its North American premiere, the anime flick amassed $70 million USD ($97.2 million CAD) in sales which slid to $17.3 million USD ($24 million CAD) according to internet review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Despite that, it was enough to hold other opening films at bay, including Jordan Peele’s Him, which opened on September 19th, 2025.
Altogether, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has surpassed $555 million USD in global ticket sales, making it both the highest grossing anime film and highest grossing Japanese film to date.
Animation studio ufotable and production company Aniplex were not done promoting its latest theatrical project, showing off a moving visual of Koyuki and Hakuji beneath a sky filled with fireworks — two illustrations capturing their faces lit by the pyrotechnics above.
Here in Canada, major national chains Cineplex and Landmark Cinemas continue to offer showings in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English. The last day to catch the action in IMAX format is on Thursday, September 25th.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment are handling the film’s distribution in North America. Crunchyroll describes the movie as:
Tanjiro Kamado – a boy who joined an organization dedicated to hunting down demons called the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon.
While growing stronger and deepening his friendships and bonds with fellow corps members, Tanjiro has battled many demons with his comrades – Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. Along the way, his journey has led him to fight alongside the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, the Hashira, including Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui within the Entertainment District, as well as Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village.
As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji.
The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.
The first of three films to close out the hit anime adaptation of Koyoharu Gotoge’s popular manga, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has shattered box office records in Japan. Since opening on July 18th, 2025, the film continues to play in theatres there, raking in record profits.
