Crunchyroll streams anime at 35,000 feet with Delta Air Lines

Anime fans can enjoy a curated selection of five titles from their seatbacks on Delta Air Lines flights starting next month thanks to a new partnership with Crunchyroll.

The initial manifest highlights action-packed adventure Black Clover, the slice of life My Roommate is a Cat, the romantic comedy Horimiya, classic title Fruits Basket, and dark fantasy epic Solo Leveling to start; expect this list to expand in the coming months. SkyMiles Members can watch these from their personal devices through the Delta Sync Wi-Fi experience, which is available on Delta’s fleet of over 940 aircraft.

SkyMiles Members can also access the entire Crunchyroll library of 50,000 episodes and films, that’s more than 25,000 hours of content, by signing into Delta Sync Wi-Fi on their personal devices.

Of course, if those travelling have a premium account with Crunchyroll, they can enable offline viewing for their favourite shows (just make sure to do this before boarding the aircraft).

“Every Delta flight is an opportunity to discover something new. The world of anime is rich with storytelling and emotion, and Crunchyroll brings that to life in a way that’s perfect for travel. This partnership is a meaningful part of Delta’s ongoing commitment to delivering industry-leading entertainment that’s as dynamic and diverse as the customers we serve,” said Sarah Downs, Managing Director of In-Flight Entertainment Engagement & Optimization at Delta in a press release provided by Crunchyroll.

“Anime is a pop culture powerhouse with a passionate and long-term fandom. According to a recent study we commissioned, nearly half of Gen Z fans consider anime a meaningful part of their identity and over half of millennial and Gen X fans have stayed connected to anime for longer than a decade,” added Terry Li, EVP of Emerging Business, Crunchyroll.

Anime is gaining more fans worldwide, cemented by a cinematic release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle, beating out top Hollywood productions in 2025. This partnership with a global carrier is expected to lift anime to new levels and open new doors to partnerships, not only for Crunchyroll, but other licensors and distributors as well.
