A major evolution is on the horizon for the One Piece anime in 2026. As the series enters the Elbaf Arc, it will also shift to a more limited seasonal release format, delivering a maximum of 26 episodes per year.
After wrapping up the Egghead Arc in December 2025, the anime will pause its broadcast from January to March before returning in April with the next phase of Luffy’s journey.
The news was shared to Twitter/X, which included a new key visual of Luffy, dressed in an outfit similar to those worn by the massive residents of Elbaf and an axe over his shoulder, striding across a snow-covered ground between giant footprints.

The new release schedule is a marked change from the average of approximately 50 episodes a year (accounting for breaks due to holidays, sporting events, or other programming) being released by Toei Animation. Many anime follow a seasonal format of airing episodes, the most common of which air between 12 and 24 episodes per season.
Following the events on Egghead, the Straw Hats set sail for Elbaf — the land of the giants. Here, Luffy and his crew will encounter familiar friends and new foes as they enter the Final Saga.
