A fourth season of Re:Zero scheduled for April 2026 premiere; new trailer with character revealed

Popular isekai series Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World– is returning for a fourth season next year, with the appearance of a new character revealed in a recent teaser, according to Japanese entertainment website Natalie.

Veteran voice actor Tomokazu Sugita was confirmed as the voice of Reid Astrea, a 400-year-old swordsman. In the anime, he will join Fairouz Ai who will portray the witchbeast Shaula.

A specific date for the premiere is expected sometime early next year.

Staff working on the forthcoming season include director Masahiro Shinohara, supervised by Tappei Nagatsuki, with series composition by Masahiro Yokotani, character designs by Shinichiro Otsuka, music composition by Kenichiro Suehiro, and animation production by WHITE FOX.

The Japanese voice cast highlights Yusuke Kobayashi as Natsuki Subaru, Rie Takahashi as Emilia, Satomi Arai as Beatric, Rie Murakawa as Ram, Inori Minase as Rem, Takuya Eguchi as Julius Eculius, Kana Ueda as Anastasia Hoshin, Eri Suzuki as Meili Portroute, Fairouz Ai as Shaula, Tomokazu Sugita as Reid Astrea, Kengo Kawanishi as Lye Batenkaitos/Roy Alphard, and Yoshimi Ohara as Louis Arneb.

Here’s a synopsis describing Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- overall:

Subaru Natsuki, an unemployed teenager, is mysteriously whisked into Lugunica. There, he encounters Emilia, a half-elf whom is destined to be the next ruler of the kingdom. Trapped in Lugunica, he becomes Emilia’s knight and bestowed the unique power of rebirth after being killed. Together, Subaru and Emilia embark on adventures that take them throughout this fantasy world that sees Subaru placed in deadly scenarios.

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-, a light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki that began in 2012, has since been adapted into both manga and anime. In North America, Yen Press publishes the novels and manga, while Crunchyroll offers the anime in subtitled and dubbed versions.
