Vancouver Goldeneyes

Goldeneyes soar over the Torrent in inaugural PWHL game at Pacific Coliseum

In their first game, the Vancouver Goldeneyes stunned both a sold-out crowd and the visiting Seattle Torrent with a thrilling 4-3 overtime win last night.

The two teams join the Professional Women’s Hockey League, which is currently in its third year.

Ahead of the match-up, Ashton Bell was named captain, with Sarah Nurse and Claire Thompson as alternates.

Seattle’s Julia Gosling opened the scoring in the first period, before Vancouver’s Sarah Nurse evened it single-handedly; Gosling would give the visitors the lead ahead of the first intermission.

No goals were scored in the second period, but an intense third period would see Vancouver’s Gabby Rosenthal tie things up.

The Torrent kept the Goldeneyes in check with another goal, this one from Hannah Bilka. Down by one, Claire Thompson reignited hope with a tying shot, sending the game into overtime. 96 seconds into extra time, Vancouver’s Abby Boreen netted the game winner.

Vancouver faces the Ottawa Charge next at 4:00 pm PST on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, at The Arena at TD Place in the nation’s capital.
