In a move that surprised no one, Rockstar Games announced on Twitter/X that the latest installation in the Grand Theft Auto series is pushed back once again.
Despite this delay, the new release date for Grand Theft Auto VI is now Thursday, November 19th, 2026.
Rockstar explained their reasoning is to further polish the game that players “have come to expect and deserve.”
Earlier this year, the developer walked back its 2025 launch as they continue to refine the game’s core elements.
Set in the sunny beachfront metropolis of Vice City, Grand Theft Auto VI spans multiple tropical islands, sandy shores, a bustling port, luxurious high-rises, and sparsely populated rural swamps — a complete overhaul from the environment last fully explored in the 2002 title Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
The last major title in the series was Grand Theft Auto V which was released in 2013 and remains popular with online play.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
