The Professional Women’s Hockey League has revealed Vancouver’s name as the expansion team is set to play its first game on ice for their inaugural season.
Named the Goldeneyes, after the so called the Common Goldeneye, a bird with striking yellow eyes that frequents the waters along British Columbia’s coastline, according to the team’s website. Its bold design enforces speed, agility, and unity while recognizing the Pacific Northwest.
Fans looking to purchase jerseys with the new emblem will have to wait until the 2026-2027 season. Instead, the team will don sweaters with “Vancouver” written diagonally during the 2025-2026 season.
The Vancouver Goldeneyes join the Seattle Torrent, Toronto Sceptres, Ottawa Charge, Montreal Victoire, Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, and New York Sirens. Vancouver’s first game is against the neighbouring Seattle Torrent; puck drop is on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 7:00 pm PST at the Pacific Coliseum here in Vancouver.
