It’s summer and that means Carnaval del Sol is back to bring that Latin American flair to Vancouver. This year, the three-day family-friendly party that celebrates everything Mexico to Brazil to Argentina is being held in Jonathan Rogers Park from Friday, July 8th through Sunday, July 10th, 2022.
With six plazas and a massive main stage, Carnaval del Sol has something the entire family can enjoy. On the Main Stage catch acts from Peruvian hip-hop and R&B artist DJ Sanchez, break out a sweat in rhythm with the team from Zumba Vancouver, take in the sounds of Brazilian-Canadian band Brejera and more!
Sip and sample your way across an entire continent with cuisine that focuses on popular street food like the ever ubiquitous tacos, to choripan (an Argentinian hot dog), empanadas and more. Thirsty? Stop by the Beer Plaza (legal drinking age, of course) and wash down all those treats with a refreshing pint.
In the Kids Plaza, children can create crafts, partake in games, and play with others. Or stop by the Experience Plaza and participate in engaging displays and demonstrations on various aspects of Latin American culture. Don’t forget to peruse the booths with artwork and handicrafts from local artisans and merchants. Take some of that sun home with you!
Tickets are required on all three days of the outdoor festival and are available online. Children under twelve and seniors 65 and up are free (bring your ID). Tickets are $10 for each day, or save by purchasing a Super Pass for $15 and get in quicker on both days and access to a VIP lounge with a great view of the main events stage.
Carnaval del Sol is being held in a new location year: Jonathan Rogers Park, which is two blocks north of Broadway on Columbia Street — within easy walking distance from the Broadway City Hall Station on the Canada Line.
