An anime adaptation of Kagurabachi has been confirmed following a live video event. The series, based on the manga by Takeru Hokazono, is scheduled to premiere in April 2027.
An eight‑minute reveal video — hosted by Yu Saito, Editor-in-Chief of Weekly Shonen Jump, and Taihi Kimura, the voice of Chihiro Rokuhira — along with the teaser, are now available on YouTube.
Fans won’t have to wait until next year for a glimpse of the anime. A world tour is planned for this summer, offering a 20‑minute preview of the first episode; the tour will conclude in Japan, where attendees will be able to watch the full episode. Further details are to come at a later date.
The anime is directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi (Sword Art Online II, Heavenly Delusion) with character designs by Keigo Sasaki (Blue Exorcist, The Seven Deadly Sins) and animation production by Cypic (Umamusume: Cinderella Gray, The Summer Hikaru Died).
VIZ Media, which publishes the English-translated manga in North America, describes Kagurabachi as:
Chihiro Rokuhira’s father, Kunishige, is the most famous swordsmith in the land. Thanks to his six enchanted blades, the war that has been gripping the nation ends, and peaceful days follow. After the war, he retrieves all six blades and hides them in the cellar of his workshop—but sorcerers raid his home and leave Kunishige dead in front of Chihiro. Many years later, Chihiro wields Kunishige’s seventh and final enchanted blade on a mission to retrieve the stolen swords!
Kagurabachi began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023 and has since sold over 4 million copies in two and a half years.
