This morning, Square Enix issued a statement regarding the upcoming launch of Final Fantasy VII Remake which is scheduled worldwide for Friday, April 10th, 2020. Due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, the gaming company made a decision to distribute the game earlier than usual to ensure everyone will have a chance to play on launch day.

In the statement, made by producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Tetsuya Nomura who led the Final Fantasy VII Remake development team, physical copies of the game are being shipped earlier to European countries and Australia. The game is also going out to other western regions, including Canada and the United States this week but Square Enix stressed that they are unable to “…provide delivery dates for each country and each retailer.”

Kitase and Nomura’s statement also asked that anyone who receives their version of the game early to not spoil it for others. Even though Final Fantasy VII is over twenty years old, the remake is a total overhaul of the title and includes many new experiences and surprises.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is only available on the PlayStation 4.

The statement was also shared to the official Instagram account for the video game.
