Summer has already started as Crunchyroll is offering fans an opportunity to watch Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You ahead of its July premiere.
A collection of 12 mini-episodes, 10 minutes in length, comprise the first six episodes of the anime. The series is scheduled to air as part of Crunchyroll’s summer line-up.
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is directed by Tadato Suzuki and Aoi Mori, with series composition written by Mio Inoue, music composition by Shin Kono and Sayaka Aoki, and animation production by Asahi Production.
The Japanese voice cast features:
- Takuya Sato as Sasaki
- Seena Hoshiki as Yamada/Tayama
- Toa Yukinari as Goto
- Megumi Toyoguchi as Oono
- Rikuya Yasuda as Obata
- Yoko Hikasa as Maezawa
- Shinya Takahashi as Suzuki
Crunchyroll describes Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You as:
Sasaki is an overworked salaryman drifting through the corporate grind, sustained by cigarettes and the cheerful service and smile of Yamada, the clerk at his favourite supermarket. But one night after a gruelling shift, he arrives late to find Yamada nowhere to be seen. With nowhere left to smoke, his spirits sink—until a pierced young woman calls out to him: “You can smoke here.”
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is based on the manga written and illustrated by Jinushi and has been serialized in Monthly Big Gangan since March 9th, 2022. In Canada, the English-translated manga is available in digital and print formats by Square Enix Manga & Books.
