Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

Cowboy Bebop movie blasts into Canadian theatres for one night only

Head for the stars as Cineplex will screen Cowboy Bebop: The Movie only on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 in both original Japanese audio with subtitles and dubbed in English.

An excerpt on the Cineplex website outlines the film’s plot: Caught up in a world of dreams, lost in the cruelty of reality. What should have been an easy bounty turns into biological war after a terrorist gets hold of a deadly virus. Drawn in by the pretty price on the mastermind’s head, Spike and the Bebop crew are ready to collect a much-needed reward. Unfortunately, the gang’s about to find themselves in more trouble than money when the terrorist threatens to unleash the virus on Halloween–effectively killing everyone on Mars. With little time and leads that seem more dreamy than helpful, they’ll have to use their own bag of tricks to stop a dangerous plot.

The movie premiered in Japan on September 1st, 2001 where it is known as Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, was directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, with a screenplay by Keiko Nobumoto based on work by Hajime Yatate, music composition by Yoko Kanno, and animation production shared between Sunrise, Bones, and Bandai Visual.

The Japanese voice cast is credited with:

  • Koichi Yamadera as Spike Spiegel
  • Unsho Ishizuka as Jet Black
  • Megumi Hayashibara as Faye Valentine
  • Aoi Tada as Edward Wong

While the English main vocal cast features:

  • Steve Blum as Spike Spiegel
