BONES 25: DREAMING FORWARD

Four-part docuseries marks Studio BONES 25th anniversary

A four-part documentary series exploring the previous 25 years of Studio BONES, as well as its future, titled BONES 25: DREAMING FORWARD, is premiering on Crunchyroll on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024, coinciding with release of a Studio BONES production, Metallic Rouge.

Veteran director Jacinto Carvalho (aka Jace) from DeltaRocket was involved in the production of the series, interviewing creators, studio executives, artists, directors and core staff who’ve worked on beloved anime including the film Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, televised shows My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Soul Eater, among others.

“We wanted to build a place where we could find new forms of expression, new genres, and new themes through creation. Looking back, it was with great joy and gratitude that I rediscovered the works we have been creating with our wonderful friends.”

Masahiko Minami, President of BONES

The four 24-minute long episodes titled “The History of Bones,” “Style and Originality,” “Successful Adaptation,” and “Metallic Rouge: The Future of Bones.” revisit the studio’s founding in 1998 and to what tomorrow has in store for the animation workshop.

Jace has spent the better part of two decades touring Japan, with a passion for the culture, especially anime and manga. Previous projects with his company DeltaRocket have covered series like One Piece; he is currently filming one for Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto.
