BC Ferries to adjust prices on April 1

Changes are coming to travellers navigating the coastal waters of southwestern British Columbia. Starting Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, BC Ferries is adjusting fares, parking rates and cafeteria prices to align with demand and increasing operational costs.

Here’s what’s changing.

Fares: Passengers arriving at the terminal without a reservation can see a 3.2 percent increase, translating into a $0.90 for adult passengers and $7.60 for a standard vehicle on major routes (Metro Vancouver – Vancouver Island).

Saver fares: BC Ferries is adding 30 percent more Saver fare spaces to encourage travel during offpeak periods — the early morning and late evening. Walk-on passengers can purchase $15 Saver fares in advance on major routes between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

No-show fees: No-show fees will increase to $10. This move is to incentivize travellers holding Saver and Pre-paid fares to cancel unwanted reservations in advance and is applicable for routes between Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

Parking rates: Parking at the terminals is going up to cover higher operational costs for facility maintenance and security. BC Ferries says its fees are “the lowest compared to similar transportation providers” according to its press release.

Food and drink: Grabbing a bite onboard will cost a little more, with a 3.5 percent increase on food and beverage servings. Expect an additional $0.10 on the price of a muffin and $0.90 on the total for a BC Burger combo.
