First revealed at the Kaiju No. 8 panel during Jump Festa last December, an anime short detailing the workday of the First Division Captain Gen Narumi is scheduled for a Fall 2026 release.
Similar in style to the 2025 short “Hoshina’s Day Off”, this special episode titled “Narumi’s Weekday” will explore how Captain Narumi spends his workday, despite his preference for gaming over any actual work.
A key visual depicts Narumi lying on a thin mattress on the floor, surrounded by empty online shopping boxes.
The manga Kaiju No. 8, written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto, is currently serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ and on MANGA Plus. In North America, VIZ Media publishes the English-translated manga in digital and print formats. An anime adaptation, from Production I.G, premiered on April 13th, 2024, and streams on Crunchyroll.
