Start June off with summer edition of popular Japanese marketplace

Next month, downtown Vancouver is set to buzz with activity, starting with the return of the city’s favourite Japanese marketplace filled with food, artisan goods, and live entertainment.

Japan Market sets up shop in the North Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 6th, and Sunday, June 7th, 2026.

Performers for this market include the Vancouver Okinawa Taiko, Kisyuu Japanese calligrapher, Rakuichi Vancouver Mikoshi, Vancouver Shitoryu Karate, Shorinji Kempo BC, GO Taiko, and World Soran!. With the first games of the 2026 FIFA World Cup starting a few days after the market, a soccer juggling competition is also scheduled. Plus, there’s also the photogenic samurai!

A nominal admission fee of $5.00 on the days of the event are required to enter the market; the fee is reduced to $4.00 if purchased online in advance. Save the hassle of finding parking by riding transit — the Vancouver Art Gallery is located in the heard of down, a five minute walk from Granville Station on the Expo Line or the Vancouver City Centre on the Canada Line.
