The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Nintendo 64 Zelda title confirmed for Switch 2

A remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 this year to mark the franchise’s 40th anniversary.

The reveal was made during a Nintendo Direct presentation held on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, confirming rumours circulating on social media that a remake of the 1998 classic was under development.

Considered one of the greatest games of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time brought the series into the era of 3D gaming and introduced a number of elements now familiar to the franchise, including targeting and horseback riding.

The video clip, albeit brief, recreates the opening scene where Link is found sleeping in his tree house amidst the lore of Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, though a release date was not confirmed.

The game has been re‑released multiple times in its 27‑year history, most notably in 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube and in 2011 as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for the Nintendo 3DS.
