After Monday’s practice, Vancouver Canucks‘ forward Ryan Kesler has confirmed he will return to the ice to face the visiting New York Rangers on Tuesday.

The Livonia, Michigan native missed the first five games of the 2011-2012 NHL season after recovering from surgery over the summer to repair his hip. Coach Alain Vigneault had Kesler skate with Chris Higgins and Cody Hodgson during practice before giving him the green light. Of course, Vigneault will monitor Kesler’s performance and determine how much ice time he’ll get.

Kesler won the Selke Trophy during the 2010-2011 season and scored 41 goals with 32 assists and had 73 points.
