More details for the upcoming Hyrule Warriors (or Zelda Musou in Japan) for the Wii U have made their way onto the Internet. And boy, are these images mouthwatering. Hyrule Warriors is being developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja with Tecmo Koei and Nintendo as publishers.

Japanese gaming web site Famitsu posted a handful of these images along with an interview with the game producer Hisashi Koinuma. Koinuma delves into the background of the Warriors series and how the idea for Hyrule Warriors came about.

Hyrule Warriors follows a different plot — the story of a guardian of the Triforce, Shia, becomes corrupted by the mystical artifact’s power seeks to overtake the land of Hyrule. With the armies of good and evil fighting for control, Link arrives to join the fray. Zelda, now a queen, has disappeared and it’s up to the hero in green to save her.

Three versions of Hyrule Warriors will be available for purchase in Japan when it is released on August 14th, 2014: a physical copy for ¥7,980 JPY (taxes included), a downloadable copy for ¥6,980 JPY (taxes included) and a special collector’s edition for ¥11,664 JPY (taxes included). North America is expected to receive the game later on this year.
