Go anywhere in the world and chances are they not only have heard of LEGO bricks, but there will also be some ultra fans.  Some of these people use their country as an inspiration for what they build.  This particular blog takes a look at Canada.

As with any country, Canada has its own icons.   These are things that, when seen, make people think of that great northern expanse.  It’s time to stand up and take pride, Canada is about to get built a little different.

Maple Leaf

It’s on the flag, a baseball team, and pretty much wherever it fits.  It is the Canadian Maple Leaf.  During a special event in February 2014, kids had a chance to build a large maple leaf.  During that day they also could meet Mason Raymond from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Toronto.

This event was for only 40 winners.  After the main event was over, Mason did meet and greet others at the general public area  during that day.  This was a fabulous event for both patriotic citizens and those who just really love their local baseball team.

Bluenose Boat

Non-Canadians may wonder about this model.  However, you only have to look at the Canadian 10 cent piece to understand.  This fishing boat helped Canada win a number of sailing contests against other countries.  That is how it got the honor to appear on the country’s currency.  This particular model was commissioned by the Canadian Science and Technology Museum.  It took roughly 106 hours to build and uses over 9,500 pieces.

Beaver

This indigenous animal is commonly connected to Canada.  JK Brickworks has created a nicely detailed model of this well-known creature found among Canada’s wooded lands.  It is also very appropriate to be built since it itself is a builder.  Of course, throw in a bit of Hockey and it becomes Canadian through and through.

Moose

Technically, this model was designed as an entry for a special Castle themed contest.  However, you cannot dismiss the very Canadian animal in the creation.  The moose is made all the more special by its attention to scale and detail.  Among Canada’s wilderness, there are very few creatures that can match the statuesque nobility of the moose.

Ice Skater

Canadians are known for putting blades to ice.  Jennifer Garlen represents this elegantly with her ice skater.  Of course, since this is Canada, the hockey player is standing on the sidelines waiting for his own chance on the ice.  This simple scene captures the extremes of some popular activities.
