Starting Tuesday, December 17th, 2019, BC Ferries is removing the 1.5% fuel surcharge from its fares; amounting to a savings of 25 cents for walk-on passengers, and 85 cents for vehicles on major routes.
The surcharge was added on June 1st, 2019 as the cost of fuel had gone up. BC Ferries adds surcharges and rebates depending on the price of fuel.
Fuel is the second largest expense for the company, according to the comments provided by a spokesperson to the CBC.
