For a second year in a row, the skies over Vancouver’s English Bay will remain dark as the Honda Celebration of Light skips 2021, but plans something better for 2022.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers have decided it’s best to postpone the pyrotechnic party for another year when conditions improve and restrictions removed. As anyone who’s attended a night of fireworks before knows how crowded the waterfront becomes as any open space is quickly claimed, with attendees squeezing into any available spot.

2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the Honda Celebration of Light, with Honda Canada continuing to remain as the title sponsor. Dates for the fireworks were confirmed as July 23rd, 27th and 30th on the official website.

Leading up to the evening explosive event, live music and entertainment was held on the shores of English Bay and Sunset Beach, complete with food trucks and other vendors. Three countries, one on each night, would present fireworks timed to music for a 25 minute show, demonstrating their techniques, colour, and coordination.
