If taking a trip down south is too expensive, bring the colours, sounds and tastes of Mexico north with a visit to the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in Yaletown for the Fiesta Mexicana next Thursday afternoon!

This free, one day event celebrates Mexico’s day of independence on Thursday, September 15th, 2022 between 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm with mariachi bands, food vendors, a marketplace featuring handicrafts and services, and a kids zone for family friendly fun. Stick around for the traditional grito, the cry that roused the then-fledgling nation to stand up and declare its independence from Spain 212 years ago.

While Mexico’s Independence Day is on September 16th, the celebrations are held the evening before, with the grito shouted from town squares at 11:00 pm.

The Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre is located at 181 Roundhouse Mews in downtown Vancouver. Hop on the Canada Line to the Yaletown Roundhouse Station for convenience and to save on parking.
