After a month of donning the NerveGear headset to play Sword Art Online, 10,000 gamers have been stuck — to remove the headset or die in game would render death to the player in the real world. In the multilevel world of Aincrad, Asuna and Kirito clear each floor to reach the top, but get mired in squabbles between two of the leading guilds Aincrad Liberation Squad and Dragon Knights Brigade. This is on top of the dungeon master who constantly changes up the rules to keep players on their toes…

Japanese pop star Eir Aoi performs the song “Heart” which is used as the theme song for the film. Her song “Innocence” was used as the second opening for the first season of the anime.

The movie is a follow-up to Sword Art Online The Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night which premiered in 2021.

Sword Art Online The Movie -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night debuted in Japanese theatres on October 22nd, 2022.

Sword Art Online is based on a series of light novels written by Reki Kawahara and has since been adapted into a manga, three anime seasons (available on Crunchyroll), three films and multiple video games.
