Ever seen a demon king serve up fries? In The Devil is a Part-Timer!, he does just that, but at parody restaurant MgRonald’s. And it’s enough for multinational burger chain McDonald’s to take notice by including Maou in their new commercial.

Maou’s appearance is brief — just him asking “are you ready to order?” in a scene from the anime.

The commercial is part of an advertising blitz called “As Featured In Meal” that features scenes in which McDonald’s menu items are mentioned in television, movies and music. The Devil is a Part-Timer! is the only anime shown next to clips from The Fifth Element, Seinfeld, The Office, and season 2 of Loki in the spot.

While the real McDonald’s is renowned for its French fries, MgRonald’s offers up a comparable Black Pepper Fries.

A powerful demon king named Satan looks to extend his rule over the world of Ente Isla but is stopped short by the hero Emilia. Escaping through a portal, he ends up in modern-day Japan. Unable to use his magic powers, Satan — now Maou Sadao — relents and dons a uniform to work at the fast-food chain MgRonald’s. Unknown to Maou, Emilia has pursued him into Japan and takes up office work as she looks to confront her enemy. Things get out of hand as Maou and his cohorts attempt to adjust to the fast-paced life in Tokyo.

The Devil is a Part-Timer! is adapted from the light novel of the same name written by Satoshi Wagahara. The first season ran for 13 episodes from April 4th, 2013, until June 27th, 2013, then a 12-episode follow-up between July 14th, 2022, and September 29th, 2022. A second season began broadcasting on July 13th, 2023.

In North America, Yen Press handles publication of the English translated light novel and manga while dubbed and subbed versions of the anime are available on Crunchyroll.
