My Hero Academia Ultra Rumble

My Hero Academia battle royale game lands on Steam this month

Play as your favourite hero or villain in Bandai Namco’s newest brawler, My Hero Academia Ultra Rumble, which releases first on Steam next week.

Each character has their own unique quirks to use in battle; the roster so far includes those from Class 1-A: Izuku Midoriya, Shoto Todoroki, Katsuki Bakugo, Ochaco Uraraka, Tenya Iida, Denki Kaminari, and Tsuyu Asui; Pro Heroes All Might and Mt. Lady; and the notorious villains Himiko Toga, Dabi and Tomura Shigaraki. Action sequences made by their attacks utilize visual sound effects as seen in the manga — “Boom!” when Bakugo lets loose his Explosion quirk. When Kaminari overexerts himself, he falls into a stupor, adds nice touches to the gameplay.

Modeled on the battle royale-style, players can battle up to 25 other opponents in large arenas filled with obstacles and breakable cover. Collect skill cards scattered around the ring to strengthen a character’s abilities in order to leverage more power and land stronger attacks. Should a player become knocked out, revive them with resurrection cards to bring them back into the fray. Unleash stunning critical hits by charging up the Plus Ultra gauge to change the tide of battle.

While the game is free to play online, there are small in-game purchases to obtain exclusive content. Additional paid content includes special variant costumes, extra voiced dialogue, and in-game gatcha tickets.

My Hero Academia Ultra Rumble launches on September 28th, 2023 for Steam, followed by PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One at a later date.
