Jujutsu Kaisen - Culling Game arc

Animation work on Culling Game arc of Jujutsu Kaisen has commenced with first teaser video

Upon the conclusion of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, a teaser video announcing a third season of the hit anime series was revealed.

Animation studio MAPPA will adapt the Culling Game arc from Gege Akutami’s popular supernatural manga series. Although work is already underway, no further details were provided.

MAPPA has recently come under scrutiny following reports of animators working in a toxic environment mired in impossible deadlines and mediocre pay. While these are long considered industry-wide complaints, some of the seams holding back these issues inside popped open, even leading a director to apologize over the quality of work appearing in a season two episode of Jujutsu Kaisen. The studio was involved with some of the year’s hit anime, including the finale of Attack on Titan, which is likely a source of burnout for the employees.

Season two of Jujutsu Kaisen was based on the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc, which premiered on July 6th, 2023.

Jujutsu Kaisen is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, while Viz Media distributes the English-translated versions of the manga in both print and digital formats for the North American market. Crunchyroll currently holds the license to stream the Jujutsu Kaisen anime outside of Asia.
