Despite rumors abound of what lies ahead for the successor of the Nintendo Switch, the Japanese gaming giant revealed a number of heavy hitters to close out the hand-held console’s impressive seven-year run.
Early on Tuesday morning, a Nintendo Direct video event showed off games scheduled to launch later in 2024 and into 2025 including Mario & Luigi: Brothership, DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, LEGO HORIZON ADVENTURES, Super Mario Party Jamboree, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
Nintendo stressed prior to this event that the video would not contain any info on their future console, only upcoming Switch titles.
Here’s some of the bigger titles that appeared in the Nintendo Direct.
This time, it’s Zelda’s turn.
In most The Legend of Zelda games, its the hero who has to save the princess, but in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the tables have turned. All across Hyrule, strange rifts have opened, pulling in anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby. With Link missing, Zelda calls upon a fairy named Tri to find her swordsman and uncover who’s really behind the chaos that’s befallen her kingdom. Using the Tri Rod, Zelda must create replicas, called “echoes,” of objects and even enemies to solve puzzles and defeat anything that stands in her way.
A special Nintendo Switch Lite Hyrule Edition emblazoned with a golden Hylian Crest will also release the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Nintendo Switch Lite Hyrule Edition are available on September 26th, 2024.
Lets-a go island-hopping!
Mario and Luigi set sail in a new world where two is better than one. Mario & Luigi: Brothership finds the brothers in Concordia, a world filled with islands of all kinds. Start of on Shipshape Island and explore everything Concordia has to offer, but fear not, trusty friends from the Mushroom Kingdom will help Mario and Luigi out in this fun platformer.

The highly anticipated addition to the Metroid Prime saga is now confirmed. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will see Samus Aran take on a new mission in her latest inter-planetary adventure.

Revisit classic titles on the Switch!
Dragon Quest‘s Erdrick Trilogy is given an overhaul with DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake. With improved 2D visuals, head out as The Hero to stop Baramos from consuming the world with his dark forces. Explore a world filled with towns, dungeons and caves and a vibrant cast of characters while taking on terrible foes in an updated turn-based combat system.

The Tiki Tak Tribe have seized all of Donkey Kong’s bananas! Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong must now chase down the villainous Tiki Tong to get them back. Play solo or with a friend in two-player co-op mode to retrieve the golden fruit and barrel through the jungle using rickity mine carts or on the back of Rambi the Rhino.
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD arrives on January 16th, 2025.
In Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, these abandoned mansions are not truly empty. Home to multiple apparitions, Luigi must plod through each home to remove its spooky inhabitants.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection contains Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit. Both games are packed with cases that need solving, suspects that need questioning, all served with a side of deception.

New additions from the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance
Two mature-rated Nintendo 64 titles are now playable on Nintendo Switch Online — Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and PERFECT DARK. Both Mature rated titles are available to those with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
Two Game Boy Advance titles also are now available — The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Four Swords and Metroid: Zero Mission.
