Canadian theatres to show OVERLORD film starting November 8

On Friday, November 8th, 2024 Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will bring first film in the hit isekai fantasy series OVERLORD to theatres across North America. Canadian cinema chains Cineplex, Landmark Cinemas and Cinémas Guzzo will screen OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.

OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom is based on the OVERLORD light novel series written by Kugane Maruyama; continuing the events following after season four. Momonga finds himself pulled into his favourite video game; while his friends have logged out, he remains playing, right up until the game servers are shut down. As the Sorcerer King Ains Ooal Gown, he finds that the game continues, but as another world where he carries out tasks that are looked down upon in real life.

After twelve years of playing his favorite MMORPG game, Momonga logs in for the last time only to find himself transported into its world playing it indefinitely. Throughout his adventures, his avatar ascends to the title of Sorcerer King Ains Ooal Gown.

Once prosperous but now on the brink of ruin, The Sacred Kingdom enjoyed years of peace after construction of an enormous wall protecting them from neighboring invasions. But, one day this comes to an end when the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth arrives with an army of villainous demi-humans.

Fearing invasion of their own lands, the neighboring territory of the Slane Theocracy is forced to beg their enemies at the Sorcerer Kingdom for help. Heeding the call, Sorcerer King Ains Ooal Gown, rallies the Sorcerer Kingdom and its undead army to join the fight alongside the Sacred Kingdom and the Slane Theocracy in hopes to defeat the Demon Emperor.

OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom is directed by Naoyuki Ito, with producers Kentaro Hashimoto and Kazufumi Kikushima, cinematography by Yoshi Watanabe, music composion by Shuji Katayama, and animation production by MADHOUSE.

The Japanese voice cast features Satoshi HIno as Ainz Ooal Gown, Yumi Hara as Albedo, Masayuki Kato as Demiurge, Asami Seto as CZ2128 Delta, Yoshino Aoyama as Neia Baraja, Hitomi Nabatame as Remedio Custodio, Haruka Tomatsu as Kelart Custodio, and Saori Hayami as Calca Bessarez.
