It was the box office hit in 2020; now Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train steams back into cinemas across North America as a 4K remaster on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment are distributing the film in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.
So far, Landmark Cinemas is scheduled to screen the anime flick here in Canada.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train adapts the Mugen Train arc of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series. It set records as the highest-grossing anime film and the highest-grossing Japanese film globally, amassing $500 million USD ($693 million CAD) in box office sales alone.

In a world riddled with demons, a young man, Tanjiro Kamado, and his comrades investigate the disappearance of passengers aboard a mysterious train as members of the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization dedicated to protecting humanity. With the help of a powerful ally, these Demon Slayers must confront evil in a heroic battle to bring an end to the nightmare!
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine between February 15th, 2016 and May 18th, 2020; in North America, Viz Media publishes the manga in print and digital formats. The anime premiered on April 6th, 2019; Crunchyroll is licensed to stream the series globally outside of Asia.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train originally opened in Japan on October 16th, 2020 and has since become the country’s number one film, surpassing the previous record holder, Hayao Miyazaki’s 2001 animated classic Spirited Away.
