On Sunday, January 25th, 2026, fans around the world can tune in to a special event celebrating Dragon Ball’s 40th anniversary.
A live-stream will take place on YouTube starting at 10:00 am JST on Sunday; for those here in Canada, that’s 5:00 pm PST or 8:00 pm EST on Saturday, January 24th.
Expect a slate of announcements, updates, and a exhibition of Dragon Ball history during Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri. Special guests highlighted are Goku’s voice actor Masako Nozawa, executive producer Akio Iyoku, and musician Hironobu Kageyama, among others.

Created by Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball is a retelling of the Chinese legend Journey to the West and was serialized by Shueisha in Weekly Shonen Jump on November 20th, 1984 to May 23rd, 1995. An anime adaptation by Toei Animation premiered on February 26th, 1986 and concluded on April 19th, 1989. Its success spawned further series, with Dragon Ball Z in 1989, then Dragon Ball GT in 1996, followed by Dragon Ball Super in 2015, and, most recently, Dragon Ball DAIMA in 2024.
