It’s official, Vancouver will be hosting an outdoor NHL game during the 2013-2014 season. On Sunday, March 2nd, 2014, the Vancouver Canucks will play the Ottawa Senators at BC Place Stadium in the Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic.

The Canucks will be the third Canadian team to host an outdoor game, after the Edmonton Oilers hosted the Montreal Canadiens in 2003 and in 2011 when the Calgary Flames faced the Montreal Canadiens.

The game will be a first for both the city and NHL — being the only game so far to be played under a retractable roof.

Can’t make it to the game? CBC and RDS will provide live coverage for Canada with NBC Sports Network doing the same for the United States. SiriusXM Radio will broadcast live over the radio.

Tickets, events and additional information can be found on the NHL Winter Classic/Stadium Series web site.
