Today, Crunchyroll celebrates a remarkable milestone, achieving three million paid subscribers and over 70 million registered users globally.

In a press release, Joanne Waage, Crunchyroll’s General Manager said “We launched in 2006 and it took us about 10 years to hit one million subscribers. It took us only two years after that to break two million, and even less than that to hit three million subscribers where we are today. But, we don’t just measure success based on paying subscribers. We have an active and growing AVOD (advertising video on demand) community of over 70 million registered users.”

Crunchyroll, a subsidiary of Otter Media under WarnerMedia, is the world’s largest anime company and is expanding. The recent acquisition of Viz Media Europe Group brings additional services to the company with streaming services Anime Digital Network (in partnership with Citel, a subsidiary of Média-Participations), Berlin-based Anime on Demand, Paris-based DVD and manga publisher KAZÉ, and German live-action film distributor Eye See Movies.

Additionally, the anime streaming platform also released their viewer statistics for the months of April and May 2020.
