The NHL will return to the ice next week with the Vancouver Canucks playing their first game of the scaled down 2020-21 season in Edmonton against the Oilers on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021.

A post on Twitter included the schedule that includes Canada teams only, with the likes of the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens.

A number of games with the eastern teams are slated to start around 4:00 pm PST to account for the three hour time difference between Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, where it would be 7:00 pm EST.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic limiting travel and restrictions on groups, there were concerns about having hockey when many people can’t visit their own families. After discussions with provincial health authorities, the Canucks were given the green light to play home games at Rogers Arena.

Games are televised only, as Rogers Arena won’t open for fans to watch in person.
