Pokémon Scarlet and Violet coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year

Get ready for a new adventure in the world of Pokémon with the announcement of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet coming to the Nintendo Switch in late 2022. This is according to a new trailer uploaded to YouTube on February 27th, 2022.

Both titles will take Pokémon trainers on a true open world experience, where the forests and fields transition into towns and villages. Pokémon will freely roam their environment allowing trainers to pick their battles like never before. In the video, a variety of climates inhabited by Pokémon are shown: vast plains, tropical beaches, dense woods, sandy deserts, quaint villages and mist-shrouded cities.

Trainers will get their choice of starter with the traditional selection of a grass type, fire-type and water-type Pokémon.

Sprigatito is the verdant grass cat Pokémon, whose special ability is Overgrow. The fire croc Fuecoco wields the Blaze ability, is a hefty choice, weighing in at 21.6 lbs. Finally, there’s Quaxly, the suave Duckling, boasts a blue bouffant counts on Torrent as its ability.

Players can select a boy or girl as their main character: in Pokémon Scarlet, they’ll start off dressed in pale blue collared shirt with red tie, matching shorts, white knee-length socks with scarlet trim and black running shoes. However, in Pokémon Violet, the main characters wear a grey collard shirt, violet tie and shorts, dark knee-length socks with yellow trim and brown casual shoes. As with previous games, players are likely able to purchase new apparel in as they explore their region.
