With summer in full swing, many countries in the northern hemisphere are experiencing above normal temperatures, Nintendo’s Japanese customer service account on Twitter is warning Switch owners to be mindful when using their console during heat waves.

Translated, the tweet reads that if the Nintendo Switch is used in a hot environment, the console can overheat. The device’s ideal operating temperature is between 5 and 35°C — that’s 41 and 95°F. It adds to keep the air intake and exhaust ports free of dust and other obstructions to maintain optimal cooling, with an image to illustrate their locations (just in case you’ve forgotten). Should the temperature exceed the operating limit, the Switch will enter sleep mode to protect itself. Although not mentioned, it’s a good idea to keep the console out of direct sunlight and vehicles parked outdoors.

First reported by Eurogamer and then picked up by Kotaku and NME, this advice is making the rounds on the internet. Much of Europe is baking under high temperatures, with the BBC reporting some regions in Spain expected to hit 47°C (116°F) in the coming days. While here in Canada we’re nowhere near that hellish weather, it’s best to enjoy Klonoa Phantasy Reverie or Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak out of the sun and under some shade.
