Haikyu!! to end with two anime films in August 2023

Earlier this week, the official Haikyu!! web site displayed a countdown clock ending on August 13th for an important announcement . Today, it was revealed that a two-part movie titled Haikyu!! FINAL is under development for an August 2023 release.

News of the movie was shared on social media and included a teaser trailer and artwork.

Protagonist Shoyo Hinata is seen staring forward, with his windswept strawberry locks next to the movie title. Translated, the text reads “who will you be tomorrow” and “two-part animated movie sequel production”.

Shoyo Hinata loves volleyball, and despite his size, dreams of playing for Karasuno High School after watching them win the championships on television. Following a brutal beating during a game in his last year of junior high school, Hinata promises to get revenge on the “King of the Court” Tobio Kageyama, a youth with a promising volleyball career. Both Hinata and Kageyama are accepted into Karasuno High School and find themselves together on the same team, sparking a rivalry that blossoms into friendship.

Haikyu!! was written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate, appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 20th, 2012 until July 20th, 2020 and was adapted into an anime that spanned four seasons between April 6th, 2014 and December 19th, 2020.
