The live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is slated to appear on Netflix this year based on a promotional image shared to social media.

Captain Monkey D. Luffy, played by Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy, is shown facing a sunrise, wearing his trademark sleeveless red vest and straw hat, fist punching the air underneath the text “setting sail 2023.”

Luffy and his band of pirates, the Straw Hats, set off on an adventure to claim the greatest treasure hidden by famed Pirate King Gol D. Roger known as the One Piece. To claim this legendary prize, Luffy and his crew must deal with other pirates, rogues and of course, the World Government’s feared Marines.

Starring alongside Godoy as Luffy, are Mackenyu Arata as the swordsman Roronoa Zoro, Taz Skylar as chef and lovestruck Sanji, Emily Rudd as the thief Nami, and Jacob Romero Gibson as sharpshooter Usopp.

Creator Eiichiro Oda is involved in the production, serving as an executive producer. A specific date of when One Piece will begin streaming on Netflix is not known.

First published in 1997, One Piece has accumulated 104 individual volumes, nearly 1,050 tv episodes, 15 feature films, the most recent being One Piece Film: Red, multiple video games, and a theme park in Japan. In North America, the One Piece anime streams on multiple platforms including Netflix, Crunchyroll, while Viz Media handles the print and digital versions of the Manga.
