GKIDS Films is bringing the coming of age anime movie Lonely Castle in the Mirror to Cineplex locations across Canada on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023. The theatre chain will screen the movie in both Japanese audio with English subtitles and dubbed into English.
Lonely Castle in the Mirror is an adaptation of the light novels written by Mizuki Tsujimura; in Japan, these are published by Poplar Publishing, while an English-translated edition is available from Doubleday for the North American market.
The quiet Kokoro shuns school by hiding out at home. In her bedroom, she uncovers a hidden entrance in her mirror which leads into a mystical castle populated by six other other students and a young girl wearing a wolf mask. The young girl compels them to play games, but the rules are strict: disobey and a wolf will consume them. As the group solves these puzzles, they learn more about what brought them together.
Directed by Keiichi Hara, the film features a script written by Miho Maruo, music scored by Harumi Fuuki and animation by A-1 Pictures.
Lonely Castle in the Mirror opened in Japanese theatres on December 23rd, 2022.
