Sasuke Uchiha birthday

Shonen Jump celebrates Sasuke’s birthday with video

July 23rd is Sasuke Uchiha’s birthday and Shueisha has marked the occasion with a video montage of the shinobi’s iconic scenes from the manga.

A member of the powerful Uchiha clan, Sasuke had a rough upbringing after his older brother Itachi murdered the family. Swearing to avenge their deaths, Sasuke enrolled in the Ninja Academy where he was deemed a star pupil for his strength and skills. Though he radiated a cold personality and deemed an outsider, Sasuke held soft spots for his Team 7 comrades Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno, though Naruto and Sasuke frequently clashed. He abandoned the Village Hidden in the Leaves and joined with the villain Orochimaru to gain further powers to bring retribution upon his sibling.

One of the Naruto series more popular characters, Sasuke has generally ranked favourably with fans, though recently he placed ninth in the NARUTOP99 global fan poll. As the Naruto franchise expands, the star ninja continues to find himself at the centre of attention, especially with his own spin-off manga Naruto: Sasuke’s Story – The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust.

Naruto was created by Masashi Kishimoto and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from September 21st, 1999 to November 10th, 2014. The sequel, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, is a collaboration between Kishimoto as writer and Mikio Ikemoto as illustrator, began serialization on May 9th, 2016 in Weekly Shonen Jump before transitioning to the monthly V Jump on July 20th, 2019. In North America, Viz Media publishes the English-translated manga in print and digital formats.
